About Joanne

Joanne was born in Kent in 1968. She spent 23 years as a qualified nurse before following her passion of studying art and sculpture. She started a part-time fine art conceptual degree at Canterbury UCA. Whilst still working as a nurse and her interest in sculpture began.

After a significant COVID tragedy Joanne decided to pursue sculpture more seriously and she has spent the last few years studying traditional techniques on various workshops including: The Florence Academy of Art, The Athens Sculpture Atelier with the acclaimed tutor & sculptor Robert Bodem. Barcelona with talented Eudald de Juana, Mapstone studios with wonderful portrait artist Eran Webb and the inspiring Grzegorz Gwiazda, Figura sculpture with the passionate Erik Arnesen and The London Art Academy.

Joanne now works in her Sutton Valance studio and is often, but not always, making work relating to the human condition. She has exhibited in London, being selected for several open competitions including; Threadneedle 2012, Shape Open 2015, Royal British Society of Artists 2017 & Royal Society of Marine Artists 2019.

Joanne also enjoys teaching and runs small workshops from her studio in Kent.
